People with schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses are more likely to be crime victims than crime perpetrators, according to a 2005 national study. Schizophrenics can control symptoms of the illness with medication and therapy. LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport is participating in two clinical trials that study whether medications can help adults and teens with the illness.
